Getting Tested for COVID-19
How can I get tested for COVID-19?
There are several testing options for COVID-19 depending on your symptoms, and exposure risk. Current options for testing include a nasal swab for either PCR (results in < 24 hrs) or Antigen testing (results in 15 mins). In addition to testing for live virus, we also offer testing for serology to see if you’ve been exposed to the virus in the past. Choosing the correct test depends on each patients unique symptoms and exposure risks. We encourage all of our patients to consult with their personal physician to decide the best test for them.
How much does a test cost?
Most insurance plans are covering testing for COVID-19 without additional co-pays. Typically, your insurance is billed for a clinician consultation visit, a collection fee, and the lab processing fee.
What if I don’t have insurance? We offer a virtual appointment with one of our clinicians for a flat fee of $30.
How do I request a test?
If you’re an established patient of ECU Physicians, you have several options:
- Call your primary care clinic and request to speak to a nurse about your symptoms/concerns.
- Schedule a virtual care appointment through your primary care clinic or by calling 252-744-3119.
- If you are a MyChart user, you can request a COVID electronic visit (E-Visit) or send a MyChart advice question.
For patients who are not yet established with ECU Physicians, please call 252-744-3119 to request a virtual appointment.
For ECU Employees, you may contact Prospective Health at 252-744-2070 or contact our Rapid Access line at 252-744-0555.
