Health Psychology Services

Located in the Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, The Health Psychology Service provides outpatient pre-surgical and pre-treatment psychological evaluations; psychological consultation for management of medical conditions; individual/group intervention for patients coping with various medical treatments; and cognitive behavioral and ACT psychotherapy for various psychiatric conditions.

The services we provide includes:

Weight Loss Surgery

  • Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluation for Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)
  • Adjustment to surgery group program for WLS. Five-session program.
  • Individual Behavioral Weight Management (pre- and post- surgery) for WLS patients

Organ Transplantation

  • Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluation for Organ Transplantation
  • Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluation for Organ Donation

Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) Implantation

  • Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluation for SCS Implantation

Cancer

  • Psychological Consultation and Intervention for Cancer Management
  • Adjustment/adherence issues related to cancer treatment
  • Adaptation and coping with cancer

HIV/AIDS

  • Psychological Consultation and Interventions for HIV/AIDS Management
  • Intervention for adjustment to diagnosis, adherence to treatment, and quality of life concerns

Chronic Pain

  • Psychological Consultation and Intervention for Behavioral Pain Management

Psychotherapy

  • CBT, ACT, and other interventions for depression, anxiety and other psychiatric conditions

    • Neuropsychological Testing Service
      Located in the Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, this service provides comprehensive neurocognitive testing for adults (18+).

      • Specialized areas of practice include: traumatic brain injuries, recent or remote; post-concussion cognitive complaints; cognitive sequelae from neurological conditions (MS, Parkinson’s etc.); sports-related injuries; age-related cognitive decline, mild or major neurocognitive loss; cognitive capacity issues; and adult ADHD evaluations to support the diagnosis, and for possible ADA accommodations.
    • Psychotherapy Service
      Located in the Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, this service provides comprehensive psychotherapy.

      • Specialized areas of practice include supportive, family systems, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and eclectic psychotherapy.
