Clinical Services
The Division of Surgical Oncology provides multi-disciplinary oncology care in conjunction with our colleagues in medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, genetics, nutrition, physical therapy and social work.
Our team of fellowship-trained, board-certified surgeons continuously incorporate new and innovative strategies, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques, image-guided surgery, and protocolized-based care in the treatment of our patients. Specialty-focused expertise is available for all areas of surgical oncology including the treatment of malignant and complex diseases of the:

Research
The Division of Surgical Oncology is actively involved in a variety of research programs including those in collaboration with experts both at East Carolina University and around the nation with the goal of understanding and improving cancer care to our patients.
These involve:
- Translational and collaborative basic science projects investigating the pathophysiology of malignant diseases of the breast, skin and soft-tissue and gastrointestinal systems.
- Healthcare services research designed to improve quality and outcomes as well as to identify and reduce disparities in cancer care.
- Clinical research, including clinical trials and epidemiologic studies, designed to identify and implement novel treatment options for patients with cancer.
