Neurology – Childhood Disorders

  • Some children are born with neurological conditions, such as spina bifida, which affects the spinal column before birth, or cerebral palsy, which affects physical and mental development.
  • Neuromuscular disease can affect muscle function.
  • Children may also have intellectual and developmental disorders, brain conditions, spasticity or muscular dystrophy.
  • Accidents and injuries can damage the brain, spinal column or other important nerves, causing temporary or permanent disabilities.

While some of these conditions create serious disabilities, they can be managed to allow children a large range of activities. Our specialists diagnose the causes and prescribe treatments such as surgery, injections, physical therapy or medication. Some childhood disorders may be hard to diagnose, but our excellent physicians will work with referring physicians to properly evaluate your child’s condition.
